Chapter 01 · UAE digital transformation

What is UAE e-invoicing?

UAE e-invoicing is a Ministry of Finance programme that replaces PDF and paper invoices with structured electronic invoices that systems can create, exchange and process automatically.

Invoices are issued in the PINT AE XML format and exchanged through Accredited Service Providers (ASPs) over the Peppol network, with tax data shared with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA). The goal is faster invoicing, fewer errors and stronger VAT compliance.

ElementWhat it means
Electronic invoiceCreated digitally in your ERP in a machine readable format.
Structured formatPINT AE gives every invoice the same fields and code lists.
Secure exchangeInvoices move between ASPs over Peppol, not by email.
Digital validationBusiness and tax rules are checked before delivery.
Automated processingData flows straight into approvals, posting and archiving.

Chapter 02

How the UAE five corner model works

Suppliers and buyers no longer send invoices directly to each other. Each side connects through its own ASP, the ASPs exchange the invoice over Peppol, and the FTA receives the tax data along the way.

C5 · UAE FTA Receives invoice tax data C1 · Seller Dynamics 365 FO or BC C2 · Seller’s ASP Validates and transmits C3 · Buyer’s ASP Receives and delivers C4 · Buyer Posts into payables PINT AE XML OVER PEPPOL

UAE e-invoicing rollout timeline

The Ministry of Finance is rolling out e-invoicing in phases. Each phase has two dates: the deadline to appoint an ASP and the mandatory go live date.

PhaseWho is includedAppoint ASPGo live
Phase 1Annual revenue of AED 50 million or more30 Oct 20261 Jan 2027
Phase 2Annual revenue below AED 50 million31 Mar 20271 Jul 2027

What changes for finance teams

PDF, Word, scanned and emailed invoices no longer count as e-invoices. In practice, this means:

  • Invoice data must be structured. Tax, customer, supplier and line details must be complete and fit for electronic exchange.
  • Integration becomes critical. The ERP, the e-invoicing service and the exchange network must work as one process.
  • Exceptions become daily work. Rejected or failed invoices need visibility, correction and controlled resubmission.
  • Readiness takes time. Data cleanup, mapping, testing and training usually take longer than the connection itself.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP for UAE e-invoicing

TopNotch delivers UAE e-invoicing for both Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERPs. Each manages the full lifecycle inside the ERP, from invoice creation to PINT AE generation, ASP exchange and audit ready records. The main difference is how the PINT AE invoice is produced.

The TopNotch solution and integration workflow

Our solution creates one controlled digital flow, from the invoice in Dynamics 365 to its electronic exchange with the buyer and the FTA.

Architecture principle: Dynamics 365 stays your system of record, and the e-invoicing service layer handles compliance and exchange. Finance users never have to leave their ERP to manage e-invoices.

Your team posts invoices as usual. Everything after posting runs in the background and is tracked on the invoice record.
